Impressive new welcome signs at three locations. The new welcome signs were erected with the invaluable input of Haggardstown Garden Centre and the financial help and support of Wuxi and Loughrans. The three companies have been very supportive of the work undertaken by the local Tidy Towns group in the three years since it was formed. Foremost example was the construction of a landmark feature at the green opposite Sexton’s lounge and restaurant at the junction of the former main Dublin Road and Marlbog Road. It was officially unveiled in October 2022, comprising the area’s first townland sign, a decorative new shrubbery and seat that can be enjoyed visually and offers a place of relaxation and rest. A Louth County Council grant aided a large chunk of the cost, with Wuxi covering the considerable outlay on the seat and Leinster Environmental the cast iron place sign.

The three new signs are located at the junction of Chapel Road and old Dublin Road beside Jackie Murphy’s; at the motorway bridge on Marlbog Road and at the Wuxi roundabout adjacent to the inner relief road. The Tidy Towns committee are very grateful to Brendan McGrath, Wuxi, James Loughran and Paddy Renan for their contribution and completion of the latest new project.
